I awkwardly sat in silence as the foolishly loud boy mumbled his words quickly.

Anxiously waiting for a chance to make my exit, my fidgety hands became increasingly distracting.

I briefly listened, until my freakishly loud thoughts took over and I couldn’t hear him any more.

I was frantically looking for a way out but the boy continued to absentmindedly continue his story.

Suddenly, his ramble was interrupted, and I immediately took the opportunity to excuse myself.

On my way out, I accidentally kicked over his drink, and he kiddingly shook his head at me.

He laughed and said, “Don’t worry, it happens regularly around here.”

I instantly looked at him and smiled, bashfully.

Then I turned silently, and walked out.
