STORY STARTER

Write a story that takes place at a beach house.

You can choose your genre, plot, and characters, but think how you can incorporate these around a beach-house setting so that it does not feel out of place.

Amelia Don Is Going To Ruin My Wedding

This has to be the most nervous I’ve _ever_ been.

Just last month, Andy took me out to a black tie, white tablecloth restaraunt. He booked so far ahead of time, and was able to get us a table near the band. The band played slow jazz, it was so romantic.

The restaurant has their own vineyard where they harvest and make their own wine. It was amazing, the best red wine I’d ever had.

Andy knows me so well, he knew just what I would order. So, he told the waiter that I’d take some salmon, my favorite. I was already being swooned terribly, my face was full with blush.

Then, when he got down on one knee and proposed, I was so in love that I almost fainted.

“Yes… yes! Yes, I will marry you!”

In a few months I will be Mrs. Don. Sadie Don, I always thought it had a nice ring to it. I’ve been scribbling that name in my notebooks ever since freshman year. It may have taken him till senior year to notice me, but it is very obvious of his love for me.

The only thing I have to do now (besides planning a huge, extravagant, and probably expensive wedding) is to meet his parents.

_They’ll love me_, I thought to myself as we drove up to their house, _what could go wrong? _

Jake and Mary (Andy’s parents), live in Miami in a beautiful beach house. They own a booming pizza business, they’re huge in Miami. So huge, that they’re thinking about adding a location to Georgia (me and Andy live in Georgia) so that my fiancé can take over part of the family buisness.

“Is it weird that I’m nervous?” I wondered aloud, as I brushed my hands against my pants.

“Sweetheart,” Andy faced me and put his hands on my shoulders, “They’re gonna love you. Okay?” I nodded, and he gave me a kiss on the cheek.

Once we walked up to the front door, the house looked so much larger. There was an adorable patio with two rocking chairs. I smiled, thinking about Jake and Mary side by side. Jake whittling a piece of wood, Mary sewing a blanket for my future child. I’m a fantasist and romantic, I daydream all the time. I can’t help my imagination from riding wild.

I snapped back from my fantasies, Andy must have knocked on the door, because before I knew it there was a woman in front of me with short blonde hair. It must’ve been Mary.

“Mom! It’s so good to see you!” Andy beamed, as he hugged his mother tightly.

“This must be your lady friend! Sadie, right?” She asked, with a smile that I couldn’t tell was fake or real.

“Yes, I’m Sadie.” I said nervously, “It’s good to meet you.”

She swept me up in a hug, then stepped back. “Jake is in the shower, feel free to make yourself at home.”

We walked into the living room. The cielings were tall, and there were many gold accents. They had a beautiful white couch, it looked extremely comfortable. Their TV was a plasma, it was gigantic. She guided us through the house, next into the kitchen. Again, there were many accents of gold, and the counters were marble with a gorgeous white color. They had an island that matched the counters, too.

We then arrived at our room. The room was huge, and very nautical. Mary left us, and I started unpacking our bags, and then door bursted open.

“I heard your getting _married.” _A teenage girl hissed, “Is this the woman your dedicating your life and sperm to?” She had her hand on her hip, and stared at Andy. Her stare was deadly.

“Uhm, yes…” Andy faced me, “Sadie, this is my little sister… Amelia.” I nodded.

“Hi, Amelia. It’s very nice to meet you.” I smiled.

“It’s not nice to meet you.” She answered, and I was taken aback.

That was the moment I realized; Amelia Don is going to ruin my wedding.
