Persephone
My Persephone had a date
However, he was late
His mother died
Oh, how I wondered why
They went to her room
With a face of pure gloom
I heard cries
He definitely lies
It’s been weeks
There’s tears on her cheeks
She had to give in
And so he was forgiven
Though he was cheating
And he was beating
She had nowhere else to go
And now it’s starting to snow
Why can’t she leave him?
And soon the reaper of grim
Will be on the rim
Of her window he will be
Him I definitely despise
He acts all wise,
But I know he lies
He’s getting more violent
And she’s become silent
And more dependent on me
I realize he has an unpaid fee
And it fills my face with glee
As my Persephone will soon be free
I gather my friends
And soon he’ll meet his end
I sharpens my claws
And ready my paws
I enter his room
And fill his face with gloom
With all our might, we jump
He hits the floor with a thump
We scratch
We hiss
We fight
With all our might
The rest of the night is a blur
Persephone cries
Though I know she doesn’t mourn
Her baby was stillborn
But I know she didn’t want it
As I watch the news
With my Persephone,
A feeling of glee hits me
I see his face
That disgrace
He was accused of murder
Though he can’t be arrested
We’re done with the abuse
A few years later, she had children
With a kind man named Elliot
I think he’s an idiot
But he’s better than the last
Who harassed
Now they have 4 kids
And Elliot gives her affirmation
Now instead of gloom,
My Persephone has bloomed
And life couldn’t be better
She even knits me sweaters
