A Place To Belong
After the sudden death of her sister, fourteen-year-old Lily runs away to a strange new world, searching for distraction from her grief. Along with her younger sister, Comet, Lily hopes this magical realm will offer something to hold on to. But no matter where they go, her unspoken emotions follow.
Comet finds her place with enviable ease – being young and full of wonder, she rushes into what she believes is the love of her life with a mysterious child named Grace. Challenged by the strange yet tender bond between them, Lily begins to accept that love doesn't always have to follow rules or expectations – it's simply about the joy of being together. With this understanding, Lily carefully forms a connection with Anita, a quiet and brilliant girl who helps Lily stop running from her grief. Their bond blossoms into a queer-platonic relationship, eventually teaching Lily that it's okay to not be okay. In their unique ways of showing romantic affection, they both navigate what they want from each other – not what is expected of them.
_A Place to Belong_ is a character-driven story about grief, love, and ideas of unexpected connections. It's a journey of finding hope – not through grand gestures or movie-esque acts of love, but through small, everyday moments that help us survive even the hardest of times.
