POEM STARTER
Write a poem that centers around a woman.
The woman can be anyone you choose, ficitional or real. Is it a family member? A role model? Your favourite character? Or one of your own characters?
The Woman
She was perfect
The one they wanted to be
But should they make the price
To see what she can see?
To be different
Is that what we all need?
To pay the price
Only to have greed?
A perfect body
A pretty smile
Lures them all in
Within the length of the Nile
From our flaws
And our mistakes
She’s the maker
She’s the one who breaks
She’s the watcher
Underneath her own skin
The one who follows
Your never safe within.
Within her lies
They all get stuck
So, go ahead, pay the price
If you survive, you must have great luck
Her friends all say
‘She’s the greatest in town!’
When her real life
Is buried deep down
A fake smile she puts on in life
To see what they think
The wrong end of a knife
Is nothing compared
To the real horror
She is mere
Far down the list
She trembles in fear
Yes, she sounds deadly
A master in disguise
But her past influenced her actions
she moves between her lies
Help her if you may
Help her if you might
‘I can get you to safety’
Is the last thing you say
When you see her at night
Youll wish it were day
