Love Without Sight
"I held her hand tight, and I wasn't letting go."
It was as if the air surrounding us was calling us to come into an embrace. My heart was pounding. My hands were beginning to sweat, but my love for her was yearning. The very thought of her presence capsulated me into a puddled mess. I couldn’t fathom the thought of losing her to another. That is not what I wanted. Truth be told, I knew she would not want that either.
Mae was her name. She had beautiful green eyes that lit up the room around her in a way that no light could ever do. Her smile was as bright as the eye could see. I longed for her. I needed her. I knew the time had come for a decision to be made: whether to seize the opportunity to confess or not.
I walked her to the local train station. This moment felt as a fluttering wave of happiness engulfing my presence, and her's, as well. I can’t help but feel that something was missing in my life when I saw her. Mae was set to depart on the train to catch a flight to London. It wasn't to my liking, but I have to admit that my love for her surpassed my own personal feelings. I knew I had to let her go.
We said our goodbyes and looked into each other's eyes. For a brief moment, I saw bright sparkles shooting out like the specks of an asteroid hitting the Earth's atmosphere. Her presence felt magical.
She turned around and gave one last wave. I knew this opportunity was now or never. My yearning could crush the highest mountain on this planet and erupt the most dormant volcano under the sea.
I ran.
I held her hand tight, and I wasn’t letting go.
We both knew this was it. My love was all that could save me at that moment. Love without sight led me to London.
