It’s Okay To Go.
When you were just a kitten we said our first “Hello”, for 19 years I had you and it it’s all I’ve ever known.
I loved your soft head and whiskers and every other part,
And every single step you took left a paw print on my heart.
You were made of starlight, and you lit up my night sky,
But you could light up anything with that twinkle in your eye.
And when your bones got brittle and your fur had turned to knots, and when you ate a second time because you had forgot.
And when your breath got shaky, and your eyes finally closed, I remembered the best moments, the ones I cherish most.
Like how you lay across my back or curled up in my lap, or just sat in the strangest places anytime you had a nap.
Like how you liked to chew my hair whenever the urge would arise, or how you lazed out in the sun whenever the weather was nice.
I never said goodbye to you, but then again I never needed to,
Because until the end, we did not part.
Because you died with my hand on your heart.
