The box
Lily sat at the table in the tiny library of the airship. She was staring at the small ornate wooden box with it’s mysterious contents. She was frustrated. No, she was fed up. Nothing has been going the way she planned, and now she can’t even get this stupid little box open that supposedly contained the answer to all her problems. She let out an audible groan of frustration. “How the heck do you open!” She demanded.
“Everything okay?” A familiar voice asked walking into the room. He had sandy hair and a handsome smile that lit up any room. The tension melted a bit when Lily saw him.
“Hey Lucas.” She sighed “I’m just trying to get this. This… stinky box open.”
“Why don’t you just smash it?” He said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
This answer caught her of guard. “Well. Umm. You could give it a try.” She said uncertainly.
Lucas picked up the wooden box and hurled it towards the ground. But the lid stubbornly stayed tight on the box. “Huh,” He he said casually “ that was anticlimactic.”
Wait! What’s that?” Lily cried, stooping down to pick up the box. She pried off a the top layer of the lid wher the corner was peeling of revealing a tiny dried up reptile toe of some kind that was inside the lid itself. Disgustedly picking it up and flinging it as far away from her as possible Lily said “a locking charm.”
The box opened right up and lying inside was a yellowed piec of paper with fading words.
"we did it!" lily joyously exclaimed. She excitedly gave Lucas a hug but quickly pulled away, embarrassed. They looked at the paper and saw It was a hand drawn map that could lead them straight home. Home, at last. How lily loved that word, home.
