POEM STARTER

Imagine you are a young child attempting rhyming poetry for the first time.

Consider the language you use to reflect the child’s age. Also try to think about what would be an important topic for them to write about.

The Ghost

**_A ghost is catching in the Limbo forevermore

A ghost is catching, oh so fast,

It runs and jumps, it doesn’t last!

It hides behind the big, tall door,

And stays in Limbo evermore.

I try to tag it, touch its hand,

But whoosh! It slips just like the sand.

It laughs so soft, it sings so low,

I chase and chase, but where’d it go?

The moon is watching, big and round,

The stars are giggling with no sound.

I reach, I jump, I spin, I fall—

But I can’t catch that ghost at all!
