She stood by the altar


Feeling similar to the bouquet she held


Beneath her sweaty palms


Beautiful but contained


Alive, but in a denouement



He gazed into her aquatic eyes


And saw unexplored depths


Of which he struggled to dive


And only ever glazed the surface



They never met each other


And they never got to say goodbye


To the pieces of themselves


That couldn’t cross the borders


When they founded their hollow love
