Mel In The City
Mel felt the desert heat start to ease up from her freckled forehead, as she looked up and saw the sun going down she also saw something else a building far into the distance. Her face instantly brighten “oh god finally I can gather more supplies now it maybe I can bathe for a couple days” she said while putting her foot to the pedal in the solar powered truck. Getting closer now she can see that it’s not just a couple buildings to loot but a whole area that seemed more man-made then just typical Apocalypse debris and destruction.
The sun was nearly gone now as she got into what seem to be a city a fully functioning city. Mel was stunned at how A city like this somehow exist like maybe a city like this is what her parents grew up in before the world went kaput. Mel decided to try going into a house however she was stopped by someone who looked like who owned the house “ hey what do you think you’re doing here barked the man.”
“Oh sorry I was just gonna go in and take a shower and leave.”
“Who the hell raised you you can’t just go onto someone else’s house take a shower like it’s yours and leave what’s the matter with you.”
Isn’t this what we usually do since there’s no such thing as laws anymore?
“Not in this City a self appointed mayor runs the city so you will have to be on your best behavior that means no looting you little rat brat” The man said also pointing in the direction of the mayors office which seem to be in a long drive away.
Mel getting visibly angry at this point. “OK asshole can you at least show me where to bunker down for the night”
The man pointed at a large duplex “that apartment over there would do. Oh by the way how much money do you have?
Mel pondered about this money she has never known about currency ever since she was born
“Money?”
The man in an effort to get back to what he was doing gave her some paper currency and told her to give it to the man who owns the duplex then pick an available number to go to sleep in.
“Good luck young lady Man said that he closed the door.”
Mel made her way to the duplex apartment building it seemed that the man was right after all that duplex manager as he was called took her money and told her to go to a certain number place she was asked to park her car somewhere out-of-the-way and said that his payment is only good for three days.
Mel headed upstairs anyways close the door and lay down on a surprisingly soft mattress. “This is awesome” she said still in wonder of the city “I wonder what else this city does” and she put everything away and went to sleep.
Little does she know that civilization can be cruel to unsuspecting people. But she will learn about that tomorrow.
