Fragments

You never know what you'll find in a basement. In someone's house if they are a normal family you'd probably find boxed-up Christmas decor, an old box of heirlooms, or baby toys. If you were in the basement of the business you might find rows of filing cabinets full of boring business things.

But I'm in the basement of a church. Churches are weird man. You have a ton of different emotions. During worship alone, you have those whose joy can't be contained to just song. They have to move their bodies. There are those whose emotions come out as silent solemn tears. But then you also have the ones on their knees crying out to God they so strongly believe.

A broken guitar with a broken neck and missing strings sits in one corner along with a few broken music stands and hym books covered in dust. They remind me of the feeling I used to have during worship in a church. A church didn't teach me this this is just what I believe. I believe that when our emotions are at a peak we leave a fragment of our soul. Tiny pieces of our souls are all over the world.

The soul that fragments from worship left in the basement of this church bits of joy and healing. But there are other fragments in here. Like the giddiness, a bride and groom feel on their wedding day. Or the deep aching mourning of a funeral. Maybe you feel the blossoming of a new friendship between two littles in the church nursery.

And that's what I found in the church basement. Where do you think you've left fragments?
