POEM STARTER

"I know every detail about every version of herself she has ever been."

Write a poem which either includes this line, or uses it as the central theme.

Dear My Mirror

Dear My Mirror,

When did you first start to break?

When did those first cracks appear,

Dancing across your surface like spiderwebs,

Splitting the face of the girl you hold?

I think I recognize her,

Maybe before the cracks marred her features,

I think she was put together,

A level head and strong heart,

She knew exactly who she was,

And who she wanted to be.

Now that I think about it,

I know everything about every part of that girl.

So when did you ensnare her,

In your web of cracks and pressure?

Was she running,

Into your open embrace?

Or hiding?

When did I lose her?

Because I could’ve sworn I knew her,

But I’m not sure of anything anymore.

When did you first start cracking, my mirror?

And could you tell me,

How to patch those cracks?

And maybe,

Maybe,

Somehow find this girl,

Lost in her own reflection?

Sincerely,

** A Friend**
