WRITING OBSTACLE

Describe an object’s temperature without using words relating to tactile senses.

Tactile senses, or the sense of touch, are usually what we use to identify whether something is hot or cold. Without this sense, how else can we recognise and describe temperature?

My Fez

My cat, his temperature? It’s the kind that radiates peace into your chest when you’ve been woken up in the night. His purrs crackle and lull you back to sleep. His temperature is the rise of your heartbeat when you first see him and the soothing of so once he’s in your arms. His fur, like a blanket, familiar. Hes’s drug like, melatonin, but its never enough, just one more pet, one more kiss. Like a thermostat, he controls me, not I him. I am what I am because of him. His name is fez, I call him fuzzy. You ask his temperature, I’ve told you so. Goodnight, I am warm and lying with fuzzy.
