The Candy Man
I walked down the short cobblestone street in the dim lighting of street lamps that hung above my head. The wind howled through the narrow brick walls that surrounded me. Before me stood a man. He couldn’t have been taller than 5’6. I stared at him and he gazed back. Slowly, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a pouch.
“Candy..?” He said in a voice that reminded me of slime. It was a smooth thin voice, his skin a deathly pale. I couldn’t see his face, he held an umbrella over himself.
I had always been taught not the take candy from strangers but something about him was too alluring to resist. I slowly tiptoed closer to the man, reaching my hand out slowly. “Yes please,” I murmur, my voice is lower than normal when I speak.
“Perfect…”
From under the umbrella, I can see the hint of a grin on the man. I could now notice that his head was partially tucked into his coat. Once again it seemed odd however for some reason, it didn’t bother me.
I thank the man as I bite into one of the treats he had given me and fall into a world of darkness.
