POEM STARTER
Awakening
Write a poem about an awakening - it could be literal or metaphorical.
I Sent My World A Ballon
I sent my world a ballon today
And there it will stay forever
I watched till it was far away
Knowing it was on an adventure
I’m smiling,
knowing I created two things that can fly
But this one would never be robbed of life
Only going up into the starry sky
where my world lives and I watch from below
Tonight, before bed,
I whispered into my pillow:
“I sent you a ballon, my dearest,
It was yellow, just like your curl
I sent you proof that freedom and purity exist,
And my love for you,
my daughter,
is bigger than the world.”
I sent a ballon to my world
And it opened my closed eyes.
Finally, she won’t be lonely
In the vastness of the sky
