Families from all around the block

All there to see me off

Two years have since past

Strangers they are now

But those same strangers

Faces now plastered with smiles

Gathering once again

They sweep me up in hugs

Tell me I look no different

Jokes across the room

Songs sang off key

Everyone’s happy

Except me

I hurry away when they turn their backs

Careful not to spoil there fun

I run to the graveyard, now on my knees

I’m begging once again

As I did years ago

But not begging to stay
