It’s Complicated

We couldn’t stop laughing together, maybe we were just a little bit drunk. I slapped his shoulder and fell into his chest. I’d never noticed how magnificent he smelled before, like mahogany and honey. I looked up and our eyes met. His curly blonde hair never looked so good.

“What’s happening…” I spoke.

He slipped his hand around the back of my neck and pressed his lips against mine. My heart fluttered, what was this feeling? I had never thought of Jasper as any more than a friend, but now something has changed.

He slipped his hand around my waist and I snapped back into reality. I pulled away, confused. I made up some stupid excuse and left.

“Autumn, wait!” He called out, but I ran out, embarrassed. We were just friends, or at least that’s what I thought. Nothing would ever be the same between us again, that was for sure.
