Tidal Waves

Callahan’s boots sunk into the damp sand of the desolate beach where he stood before the mysterious girl, who remained hidden behind a skeletal mask. He watched carefully as the girl had her bow aimed right at him, ready to unleash the arrow at any moment.

“Leave. Before I make you, pirate scum.” She hissed.

“Listen lady, I don’t know you and I don’t know why you have to insult me but unfortunately I can’t leave. King Richard’s orders.”

Callahan conjured up some daggers from the palm of his hands.

Instantaneously, the girl released the arrow, sending it hurtling towards him with deadly accuracy. But Callahan narrowly missed it which made a smirk appear as he used that momentum to thrust his hand outward, releasing a burst of energy into the sand beneath their feet.

The sand stirred up, shrouding the girl’s vision. With her vision obscured, she looked around uneasily and tightened her grip on the bow. The man emerged from the sandy cloud like a phantom. The girl reacted swiftly, but he reacted quicker. With a sudden and precise strike, he slashed her arm with a dagger then twisted it behind her back, pinning her to the coarse ground.

𝘏𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘺 𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘦.” He thought as he dispersed his blades.

She winced when his knee dug into the small of her back. She knew she was at a severe disadvantage but refused to yield.

“…You’re a spellcaster.” She said, gritting her teeth.

“And a woman who talks to me by endangering my life. What a surprise.”
