Trees

Hyena slouched against the thickest branch of the old oak that rested amongst the cliffside. He watched the birds attentively, noticing how they seemed to be quieter towards the end of the day now. He could tell by the upturned leaves and the swiftly moving clouds that it was going to rain soon, but he could care less. Benethe the looming cliff laid a small pond, one that on a day like today produced enough mist to leave a mysterious fog lingering in the air.

Hyena glanced back to the deer skull that hung from a nail in the tree, flesh-eating beetles crawlled amongst it, eating at whatever remains of skin still clung to the skull after he had soked it in the nearby river. He had found the skull amongst an old pile of wood, the poor deer had probably wondered to close to the machines they had been using at the time.

He hazily gazed into the now emerging stars, peacefully jumping down from the tree. Swinging his legs off the side of the cliff. Starinv into the darkness below as his conciousness began to slip, along with his grip on the stone..
