Outside Terror

I was just putting away the dishes when I heard it. The sound of my daughter's scream. It was full of agony and fear, something I'd never heard before. But it was coming from outside the front door on the road. I don't even bother turning off the sink as I bolt out the front door, my screams for my daughter echoing around me.

I looked frantically around the street and saw her up ahead. My heart caught in my throat as I saw a man with a bloody knife standing over my daughter who was lying on the floor. Her head was lolled to one side and her eyes were half closed.

Just as I charged at the man, he saw me and made a run for it. I began crying uncontrollably and screaming at the top of my lungs as I reached my daughter. Curious but frightened neighbours stared out of their window but I paid them no attention, it was all on her.

Her body was limp in my arms, blood soaking her shirt and pooling around us.

"Call the ambulance!" I shrieked, "call the ambulance!"
