WRITING OBSTACLE

Write a multi-POV story from the perspective of three different people across the globe looking at the same thing.

What could they all be looking at and how might they percieve it differently?

The Ocean

Ember Hawkes

_ February__ _26, 1:32 p.m.**_

_** Ember stood at the edge of the cliff, her eyes fixed on the horizon. The deep blue ocean stretched out endlessly before her, a vast expanse of blue that merged with the sky in a way that made her feel small and insignificant. It was comforting in a way, to be reminded that there was so much more to life than what you usally got to see during the day. She breathed in the salty ocean air, feeling it fill her lungs, letting the wait of her worries lift, even if it was just for a moment. There was something about the endless horizon, the promise and mystery of what lay beyond, that gave her hope. Mabye everything would be ok after all.

Keith Harkins

** **February 26, 1:46 p.m.

_ _Keith stood next to Ember, but his gaze was fixed on the rocky cliffs below, not the ocean. The jagged rocks, sharp and unforgiving, made sent cold shivers down his spine. He couldn’t stop himself from imagining what would happen if he or someone else fell. The crash, the mess, the finality of it all. His hands clenched into fist as he replayed the scene in his head over and over again. Carefully, he took a step back from the edgeβ€” the ocean might look peaceful from here, but it was deceptive, dangerous even. He glanced over at Ember, wondering what she saw in it. To him, it was a reminder of just how fragile everything really was.

Raven Cunningham

February 26, 1:56 p.m.

_ _Raven grinned as she looked at the ocean, her heart racing with excitement practically ready to explode. She’d always felt alive near the waterβ€” something about the power of the waves, the way they crash against the shore, just filled her with an electric thrill. They where so unpredictable and wild, she loved the chaos that they brought. She wasn’t like Keith, who saw every danger in a wave, or Ember, who seemed content just to simply watch. For Raven, it was above diving in, feeling the rush of the cold water against her skin, challenging the unknown. The ocean was freedom. It was the place where she felt truly at home.
