POEM STARTER

The Beauty of Being Asleep

Write a poem which could have this as its title.

Before I Wake

Not yet

A few more minutes and ill wake—but not yet

Don't let the light hit my face,

Cover the blinds

Hide me Inside the colder sides of the pillow.

Rewind it back, to a dazed state of mind

Were I take more steps motionless

Unguided by flesh

Resting open for moments left unspoken

With beauty often unshared

A few more minutes, to take time in this state

Pressed against the sheets, were linen fabrics meet halfway

Wedged between shaken earth and crushing skies

Not ready to wake

Don't let the honks and beeps of the world shake mine into collapse

I need its beauty spared
