WRITING OBSTACLE

Write a dual point-of-view scene in which the right part of the brain and the left are disagreeing about a topic.

Think about the characteristics associated with each side.

I’m The Boss!

**Red Zone:** “It’s just not my favourite thing to do!”

**Blue Zone:** “I know it’s not, but she seemed serious about these threats.”

**Red Zone:** “I want to do it tomorrow morning; that will be better. That's what I want.”

**Blue Zone:** “What about what she said will happen if we don't do it every night?”

**Blue Zone: **“She said those little creatures will cover them, that more of their friends will come and break everything.”

**Red Zone:** “I don't care. They won't do that; it's not fair!”

**Blue Zone: **“What if the little creatures bring wands with sharp pointy ends and start poking the back like last time?”

**Red Zone:** “That’s not going to happen again; we were sick when that happened”.

**Red Zone:** “I told her she is not the boss, I am!”.

**Red Zone**: “ Mrs Marina said I am the boss of my own body! - So she can't tell us what to do.”

**Blue Zone: **“I just don't want her to be mad; what if she stops loving us?”

**Red Zone: **“She has to love us! Even if we did do it, it's too spicy!”

**Blue Zone:** “I just don't want to be upset, but she did get us that new Bluey one to try; I think the brush buzzes too”.

**Red Zone**: “Fine, I’ll try it, but I'm still mad at her because I'm grumpy!”

**Blue Zone**: “I know. I told her I’m not tired, but my eyes won't stay open, and I don't know how to fix it.”

_Four-year-old Rose finally steps up on the stool and brushes her teeth. When she finishes, her mum picks her up, gives her a big cuddle and holds her in silence for a few moments. _

**Purple Zone:** “Mum hugs always make me feel better; I think I'm ready to sleep now.”
