Ready to Fight for
If I dreamed you up I wouldn’t have done this well. The moment I saw her—reaching for your hair I knew it was gold. But it was your eyes—if looks could kill she’d have evaporated on the spot. Who knew being mean made someone so hot. The blue grey flame of your eyes disarmed me. Your pale skin, so different from mine but just as warm, gives you an unrelenting sharpness that makes me weak in the knees.
Overwhelmed with love and rage in that moment all I knew was you couldn’t possibly be mine. The perfect squareness of your jaw. The light dusting of freckles across your nose. All the people I loved before crumbled from my bruised heart. I would go to war. Run into on coming traffic. All for just one look. A part of me will always be rooted to that spot. To the moment I relinquished my freedom to your eyes.
