Being an agent was always my dream. It was in my blood, that’s how my mom and dad met each other. I always knew that one day, I would meet my wife there but I never imagined it would turn out like this... It was my 23rd birthday when I officially became a FBI agent and I had a mission in Illinois. Four days later, I was on the 9:00 a.m. flight from Colorado to Chicago, Illinois— the home of a couple of sketchy people. My first goal was getting close to Hassan Hafid to get information on his drug operation. I needed him to trust me so he would bring me around and get me “involved”. The only problem was “how was I going to get a drug Lord to trust me?” Then, I figured if I get his daughter to fall for me, maybe she could get me info on her dad. I organized a fake set up and “met” Amina. Every couple of days Amina and I did something different, my plan was working. Two months later, she introduced me to her dad and although he was skeptical at first, he was happy for “us”. Hassan even introduced me to a couple of his connections and got me involved in his operation. I did it! Now I was in but I had to establish clear evidence and prove that Hassan was the mastermind of his operation. He took me under his wing and a year later I had everything I needed. A week before I planned to catch her dad, she planned a “vacation” for us. I had to admit I didn’t think anything of it because I let my guard down around her. I was slowly falling in love with the daughter of the man I was trying to put in jail. What I didn’t know though, was that Amina was more involved than I knew and she became suspicious of how close I was getting to her dad. On our “vacation” to New York, Amina took me out to see the city but then said she had one more surprise for me. She put a blindfold on my eyes and we drove for half an hour before finally coming to a stop. All throughout the ride she told me I needed the blindfold so the surprise wasn’t ruined, the worst part was I believed her. I also now realized the juice she gave me tasted weird. Before I could ask her about it, we arrived. She led me into a building that turned out to be a safe house for her father. She cooked dinner but my eyes were so heavy that I was knocked out cold. When I woke up I was in a dark room, tied to a chair with handcuffs and rope tied around me. Amina said “ I know you’re an agent and I won’t let you destroy my family. Any last words?” Then I noticed the gun at her side. I couldn’t formulate any words but I took a deep breath and said “I am an agent but when I started this mission I didn’t know I would fall in love with you.” She said, “Nice try but you broke my trust and I can’t let you throw my dad in prison.” Then I replied, “ Amina your dad is hurting people I know you’re better than this.” I reached for her but she backed way looking torn. She said “I know but I love my dad”. A few minutes of silence passed and she untied me and took the handcuffs off. Unfortunately, Hassan had an emergency meeting in New York and he heard what Amina just said. He asked why I was tied up and Amina fell silent. I didn’t know what to say either. Amina and I looked at each other and bolted for the door, Hassan was too slow and we locked him in. I ran as fast as I could to the car and called my director, he told me the nearest FBI safe house and said backup was on its way. I turned to Amina and said “If I survive this, can I go home? Will I be safe? And what about us?” She said “I don’t know but we are in this together.” In that moment I had truly won, Hassan was found a few blocks away from his safe house; Amina and I were in love and I had successfully completed my first mission.
