Hidden In Plain Sight
I sat there in the little boat upon the blue lake water knowing that the people sitting around on benches in their pastel clothing and walking the cobblestone all around couldn’t see us at all. The little children faces red and sweaty from playing in the warm sun. I look at all the people around the table studying their faces. The sun shone brightly down on us. Each of us are some kind of creature a child would fear in their nightmares. While if a adult saw us they would just think it was a figment of imagination like they had schizophrenia. We were deciding who would be our victim for the evening. I always had some compassion towards the humans feeling bad about what we do to them. But if we dont feed then we will all die. There needs to be evil in the world making people fear so we could feed if not then our existence wouldn’t be of much importance. I see a child that seems to be busy playing and is getting way to close to the edge of the cobblestone almost into the water. He is watching us my eyes widen realizing he can see us. I motion at him my friends turning and grinning sharp teeth glinting tongues licking their lips in hunger for the little boy who is about to fall into the water. The boy walks into the water falling sinking into the depths his mother and father see him fall in dashing over to the edge of the lake to try and save him. All my friends jump in preparing for the feast. It was almost as if it was given to us. We didnt even have to take. But I sat there sadly watching the parents in agony knowing they couldn’t see us at all and didn’t know their little boy was being eaten alive at the bottom his skin be stripped first his organs being eating out his tissue torn and fed to the creatures one by one. I hear the little boys gurgles and screams then it s silent.
