POEM STARTER
Heavy rain, cracked windows, and a forgotten song.
Use these descriptors as inspiration for a poem.
Rain Drowning Fire
Heavy rain pours down
A thundering choir
Why did you open the door
And let the rain drown our fire?
You can’t hear a beat
With the downpours masking applause
Our song is a long forgotten seat
At the end of a hall
Why did you crack our castles walls?
When we were tucked safely inside
Why did you let the cold wind in?
Did you not like the warm firelight?
Was I not enough for your hearts desperation?
Are you not satisfied with my entertainment?
Am I just a joker, a pawn to be messed with?
Why would you leave me, like an old garment you dressed with?
It’s cold outside
And you took the key from me
Left me all alone
Now no one shares our safe company
Our old haven lies with dust and cobwebs inside
Because you locked us both out, both you and I
I’m stuck without you, stuck in the rain
Why did you crack the windows, give into your pain?
