Rainbows.

As I sit here, wearing pink, I think about the colours of the rainbow. What do they mean?

Red - A colour that can be associated with anger but if you really think about it, there is lots of beautiful things that are red.

Poppies poppies, the red poppy is a remembrance colour. It represents the war that all our soldiers fought so hard to win, for future generations.

Roses are red, crimson red, blood red. Stop and smell the roses, enjoy the free things in life.

Red kangaroos, the Roos come in all shapes and sizes, Australia’s coat of arms.

To the land we live in, the red soil. In the Dreamtime, we created artwork from the dirts and soils.

Yellow — Daffodils, sunshine, sunflowers. Aromas so different yet so beautiful.

To the yellow sands on the beach, nothing beats the feeling of the sand in between your toes.

Yellow is a happy colour that represents light, without light there would be darkness.

Bananas, grapefruit, pineapple and lastly lemons.

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.

Pink — Magenta, hot pink, fuchsia and bubblegum. When I think pink, all I think of is my granny. Dressed in pink, pretty in pink, that’s how I remember my dear grandma. Pink roses, cherry blossoms, peonies and carnations - pink pink pink.

Sunsets and sunrises on the beach, shades of pink that create a painting on the water.

Pink is the colour of love, when you’re feeling pink, you’re feeling loved.

Rosellas, flamingoes, galahs.

Always think pink.

Blue — A colour that can be associated to depression or sadness. Oh so many beautiful blue things. The light blue skies on a summers day, the dark blue sky at night that shines with the stars in the sky.

Baby blue, navy blue, royal blue and dark blue. So many different shades of blue to choose from.

To the rough, the calm and the serene oceans, sparkling blue, blues of all shades.

Blue birds, Willy wagtails and even rainbow lorikeets everywhere you go, blue will soon follow.

Purple — Lavender, jacarandas, violets and purple top vervain. These flowers in certain seasons, colour the streets in purple parades, such a beautiful sight to see.

Purple is the colour of gay - to be gay is to be happy. Purple people eater is a song about a friendly purple monster.

Shades of purple aren’t often seen in a rainbow due to the ultraviolet light, but if you look close enough, you’ll see the magic of the rainbow and it’s beautiful colours.

Orange — Autumn days, with the sun hiding behind the clouds. Bright orange leaves, some dark orange. As the leaves fall in time for the winter, they cover the pathways. Before you know it, the trees are bare and all that’s left is the piles of leaves to jump through.

Orang-utans, tigers, clownfish and foxes - just to name a few. Whenever I think of orange, I think of mother natures beautiful creations.

Orange, tangerines, apricot and carrot.

Green — some associate green as the envy colour but if you look closely green is all around us. Green trees, as the wind whistles through them, green leaves fall to the ground.

You see green is all around us, the moss on rocks, the green grass and the seaweed in the oceans. Green veggies that keep us going like broccoli, kale or Brussel sprouts.

Without our beautiful green we would have a world of brown.

You see, all the colours of the rainbow may seem like just colours, but when you really think about it, you don’t need a rainbow to see it’s beauty.

You just need to look around you, pay attention to the simple things - the simple things in life are free. Keep looking, keep believing.

Soon you’ll start to realise you don’t need to see a rainbow to get good luck.
