He’s There
I was sitting on my bed when I heard a creak in my room. It came from my closet. But no one else is in my room. Who could it be?
I got out of my bed and walked over to the closet door. Slowly opening it, I was looking down at the stuff in front of the door. When my eyes reached the closet floor, I saw his shoes. I quickly moved my eyes up.
He was standing inside my closet. He was facing in my direction, but I couldn’t make out his face. I reached inside to turn on the light. I didn’t reach the light switch but he grabbed my wrist. He reached his other hand up to turn on the light himself.
His face was lit up and I realized that he had no eyes. Just two empty sockets that were black as night. I ran from the closet and out of my room. Down the hallway to the living room where my mom was sitting on the couch. All the while, I could hear his haunting chuckle following me.
“Well, look who finally decided to come out of her room.”
“Mom, there’s someone in my room. In my closet!”
“No, there is not. You just had a bad dream. You don’t have to come out here to tell silly stories. Why don’t you just go back to bed?”
“But I don’t want to go to bed, the man with no eyes is waiting for me in the closet!”
“I don’t care! Just go back to bed! You need to grow up!”
Slowly, I walked away from my mom. I went back into my room. Breathing out, I approached the closet. The door was cracked open and the light was off again. Pushing it open, I saw that there was no one there.
I decided that I should just head back to bed. Laying down on my bed, I pulled the covers up around my shoulders. I rolled over and got comfortable for sleep. That’s when I heard another sound. But this time it was from under my bed.
“You thought you could run, didn’t you? No one will ever believe that I’m here.” The voice has the same haunting air and the man’s laugh. “Don’t worry, I’ll never leave you alone.”
