STORY STARTER
Inspired by Kail Cleo
Create a story by writing multiple diary entries from your character (or multiple characters intertwined).
Try to make each entry build from the last to add to the storyline. If you switch perspective, make it clear that it's someone else's journal.
Same Situations
Avery opens up the journal that her uncle got her. It was thin, with a leather cover that had the markings of snake skin. She turned the first page to find multiple journal entries…
Lainey:
Dear whoever’s reading this,
I don’t know what this book is, but I know I want to leave some kind of mark in it. So that’s why I’m writing. I actually just found this on the ground and it caught my eye, so here I am.
Caleb:
I was out skateboarding with my friends, that is, until I found this journal lying on the fountain in town. I saw that Lainey girl write, so I guessed that I’d just write as well.
Kate:
I felt almost compelled to write something. Anything. So I guess that I’ll just write about how I found this book in the first place. Everyone else so far only found the book laying around, but I actually got it from my aunt. I know she practices witchcraft, so that does make me a little skeptical of the book. And why she gave it to me of all people.
Avery found many more entries like that, about people just saying how they found the book. Were they all supposed to write only that? Or is the book looking for something more? Maybe Avery should just write an entry too….
