The Final Mission
The beast took us by surprise, all of my comrades immediately pulled our guns from our packs and started aiming to kill it. We tried to gain some cover, by hiding behind some debris from our surroundings. The creature charged right at us as we started shooting it. Our bullets weren’t seeming to do anything but distract it.
“We need to do something!” One of the men said. “Our bullets don’t do anything to it.”
“ Is there any way to stop it?” Another said. I looked around for something we could use. After quickly searching I saw a big standing pillar in the distance.
“Do you see those buildings over there?” I asked. Some of my team nodded their heads. “ We need to get over there, I’ve got a plan.”
My team and I took off running as quickly as we could, but the monster was quick to follow us. When suddenly it stopped running with us.
“Keep going!” I yelled out. The monster had opened its mouth and a huge blaster appeared. It was a weapon, and it needed to be destroyed.
“Open fire, and hit the mouth!” I screamed out, scared.
We attacked, but the creature was quick to retaliate. It fired at half of our men, and they quickly fell to the floor. All remained lifeless but one. His helmet had cracked. He was struggling to breathe. The air didn’t have enough oxygen to sustain him. With his final breath, he quietly said, “Go.”
We continued to run as the creature was distracted by the dead bodies it had just killed. It used its head to look for anything valuable.
The remaining members of my squad were almost to the pillar. Our foe was realizing we were more important.
With our final bullets, we started shooting the pillar so it would fall onto the huge monster as it was coming close to us.
“That’s enough!” We decided, and in order to keep our foe at distracted. We all stood underneath the pillar. Right as the monster was under it. We shot the pillar one last time, letting it fall onto the monster, and onto us.
“Captain,” one of my men said. “ Thank you.”
He saluted, and I saluted back. And together as a squad, we won our final battle.
“Ma’am, we must take off now. These civilians need to get to headquarters now if we have any chance of survival.” A man on a space shuttle said.
“But Squad 44 hasn’t returned from the mission.” The commander told him.
“I know, but they would have made it back by now. The planet isn’t safe anymore.” He responded.
She thought for a moment, then said “We must leave, for the civilians’ sake.”
Squad 44 had completed their mission, saving hundreds of civilians from death.
