POEM STARTER

Start a poem with an onomatopoeia and end it with a different one.

An onomatopoeia is a word that mimics the sound of something such as bark, boom, or screech. These sounds can tell a story if used effectively!

Bombshell For You

Tic. Tic. Tic. The sound of a bomb before it blows. He didn’t care? He didn’t try at all? The fuck am I here for? Didn’t love me, didn’t fight. He let me walk- I felt like a pirate. Out alone on a plank. Didn’t try to sway my mind. Didn’t try to make me stay. He grabbed ahold of my heart. Ripped it out with bloody nails. And laughed as I bled. Blade in my back. Heart on my sleeve. Doors slammed shut. Mind switched up on me. Tic. Tic. Tic. Counting down the seconds. The clock’s wide awake. ‘Til I can’t take it. ‘Til I buckle. Takes all my strength to stand up right. “Stand the fuck up.” It’s what my mom said. When she hit me and I fell. “Stand the fuck up.” It’s what you said to me. When I took a beating. From you, always you. I’ve always been a ticking bomb. You just happened to be the one. The one to pull the plug- B O O M Now I don’t have to carry your shit.
