WRITING OBSTACLE
You are a child who has lost their favourite toy on a day out, and bedtime is quickly approaching. Describe how this makes you feel.
Consider your language choice carefully here, and the age of the child. How do they display their emotions?
Pinky
. My room is painted pink. The rug is pink with white flowers. My sheets and comforter has pink and blue poka dots. The window curtains were also pink with dark pink ruffles .I also, have a stuffed pink bird named Pinky. Every night, I take Pinky to bed with me. Tonight was different. I could not find my Pinky. I looked under the bed, in the closet. I started crying because I can’t go to bed without my pinky. My mommy started to look to. Maybe she flew away? She can’t fly, Mommy said. She’s a stuffed bird, not a real one. I just sat in an Indian position with my legs crossed crying. Finally, the truth came. Mom said, I didn’t want to tell you, but I’m going to. I know you took her with you to the park today. Pinky came home very dirty.Mommy decided to wash her in the washing machine. Mommy started crying. Why are you crying asks the daughter? Mom replied: when I took her out of the dryer she shrunk.Pinky is no longer a parrot. She is now a little canary. Don’t feel bad mommy, getting too old for stuffed animals anyway.I still want to keep her. I’ll put her in my room on a shelf instead. Now I’ll call her TINY. We both laughed. She tucked me in bed, under my pink soft sheets. Said good night with a kiss. Love you mommy. Love you more replied Mom.
