STORY STARTER

Just as some humans are ghost-hunters, some ghosts are human-hunters.

Write a story in which the main character is a ghost who hunts humans.

A Lonely Ghost

The human-hunter was lonely and wanted to experience life as a human.

Her family was bored as well as they have not hunted humans for a long time. They only need to absorb the dying mist from all the other living creatures that struggled and failed to survive in the city.

Since the appearance of ghost-hunters, most ghosts had been eradicated. Her family had been very conservative and shut themselves in for the fear of their children being hunted.

So Tina could only pass years and years reading books instead of observing humans for herself. Through the books, she learned of the fun humans experience going to school. She especially wanted to experience falling in love.

“Dad, I want to go to school.”

“Tiny Bear, it’s too dangerous to go to school. There might be a ghost-hunter there.”

“But I promise I’ll be careful! Pretty please?”

“Honey, just let her go,” the girl’s mother interjected. “She’s gonna sneak out if we don’t give permission anyway.”

“Fine, but as soon as you sense danger, come back right away. And memorize the map on the wall so you don’t get lost.”

“I already did. We’ve been here for a year already. Then I’ll be off!”

Tina floated out of the house and headed to school.

There, she saw so many kids her age playing together and got excited.

When the ball flew far away to the side, Tina threw it back for them.

All the kids blanched and ran screaming away.

“The ball’s haunted!”

“Run! It’s gonna get us!”

“Call the teacher!”

Tina was left alone and had a sad expression on her face.

“Nobody can see me. How am I supposed to play and fall in love? I’m going home.”

Dejected, Tina floated away from the school.

“Well, at least I can get a new novel to read.”

With that, Tina headed to the community donation box to borrow another book.
