POEM STARTER

"“What did you do?”

Write a poem that incorporates this question three times.

Choose any theme you’d like, as long as you use repetition to create an interesting effect.

mandela effect of my existence

what did you do?

how did you react

when I stopped replying out of the blue?

were you concerned at all,

did you think anything was wrong?

you had to have noticed.

I'm not one

to grow distant.

you're the first person

that made me feel

like I had to.

what did you do?

how many times

did you miss me,

if any at all?

did you ever ask

anyone else

why I did it?

really, what did you do?

what could you have done

when I left?

I see no evidence

that I ever meant anything.

you could make me believe

we had never

opened our hearts to each other,

that we'd never spent

day after day

talking to each other,

that you never told me

I was the only one you could trust.

and yet here we are.

I've left your life,

and you've rubbed out

all the footsteps I took,

because you did nothing.

you didn't even try.
