Second (and Third) Guessing

“This is crazy, nerve-racking and exciting at the same time. There are at least 100 other girls here auditioning for the role of Cinderella.”

“Across the room, I see one girl in her early 20s who appears to be deep in thought. Her hands are clasped and her eyes are closed as if she is really trying to concentrate. She actually looks the part of Cinderella with her blue frilly dress and her hair is pulled back in a loose bun.”

“How can I possibly compete with all of these other gorgeous girls? Why did I wear pants instead of a dress? I should have pulled my hair up in a bun instead of just partially pulling it back.”

“OMG, they called my name. Here goes nothing!”

Five minutes later…” OK, it’s over and I can finally breathe again. I feel confident that I gave the best performance I could, so even if I don’t get the part, I’m proud of myself for showing up.”
