“I love you, but your powers are too strong…they scare me.” I was on the verge of tears.

Roberto looked at me and scoffed. "But Ashley. I'm invincible. I can't die. What do you mean they're getting too strong?"

He did air quotes with the word "strong" and it drove me insane.

"That's not the point. What happens if you just lose your invincibility? Did you ever think about that? It's too much!! I can't keep watching you do this to yourself! Did you ever think about what I had to go through watching you stab and shoot yourself or throw yourself down a flight of stairs?? I almost had a heart attack when you set yourself on fire!!” I paused, trying to catch my breath. “My point is, is that right now you're too strong what happens if you just lose your powers?" The tears were coming down in full force now. The man I'd grown to love had been consumed by pure insanity.

At that moment, he didn't even look like the Roberto I'd fallen in love with so many years ago. His hair was dry and untended too, his skin complexion looked awful, and he had gray and purple circles under his eyes. He looked like a deranged raccoon that weighed 250lbs.

"Please." I pleaded. I grabbed his hands tightly within mine. "Roberto. I love you. Please. For the love of God, please don't throw yourself off this building. Please don't do it for these...fucking savages." I begged.

In the background, I heard the cheers and chants for him. His enormous sea of devoted fans who'd gathered on the roof of the highest skyscraper in Avris Heights to watch my Roberto throw himself off...

Because he was Invincible.

He embraced me in his large arms and kissed me. I trembled within his grasp, I tried to pull away, I tried to plead my case one more time, but he tightened his hold.

"Ashley. I love you. I love you now...and I'll love you when I ride that elevator back up to see you." Said Roberto.

And with that, he released me and ran. Ran up the ramp, amid the flashing lights of fancy digital cameras, running through the wave of cheers and screams from his adoring fans.

And off the roof went the love of my life.
