Bichon frise

We watched the moving colors of thing the humans call TV. Alex looked at her magic box. The magic box that held peoples faces. They could talk to me, I could see them. She continued to look at her magic box. She stood up and said something. I could not understand her, after all I am only a puppy. I knew only a few words like my name. Bear. And my brother’s name. Oreo. One day he left and never came back. Back then he was the only other dog in the house. Now nobody

New comes by, no other dogs, nobody. Granny comes occasionally. But no one else. I also know the names of my humans. Alex is the youngest Helen is the oldest. Mom and dad are their parents. But I think they think of me as their daughter. I also now granny’s name. She is Alex and Helen’s grandma. She gives me treats every time I see her. I like her. Anyway, I may not have known what she said, but her tone of voice was excited so that made me happy. But then I Heard

Something I understood. “He’s perfect” suddenly a wave of memories that I had forced myself to forget flushed over me. I was laying next do a little puppy. I was as old as him. We were very little then. He was sleeping, but I had been woken up by a door opening. Who was this dog? Then I remembered that too. He was my brother. My birth brother, not Oreo. Oreo was much older than me. Someone picked him up and said, “he’s perfect” after that I never saw him again. Then I was pulled out of my memories and back into the real world. Perfect means we are getting rid of. Who are they getting rid of? Why? Dad. He was the only boy in the family. Wait, no. What about fluff. I forgot to mention him earlier. He was the family cat. But why would they get rid of either of them? For the rest of the day I was sad.

Several weeks later they brought back another dog but neither dad or fluff had left. So if perfect didn’t mean what I thought it meant what did it mean? Oh well. I’m just a puppy. Humans are confusing. Seeing the puppy for the first time made me remember when I first came home. And Oreo peed on my cage. I told the new puppy and we laughed. I new we were going to be best friends.
