WRITING OBSTACLE

Write a letter to a friend, from the perspective of someone living 100 years in the future.

What commonplace things might they mention that would surprise a reader now, and how can you use these to drive an interesting narrative?

Tomorrow’s Letter

Dear Maggie,

It’s been too long- our seasonal room has changed up to 15 times since you last came over!

I know it gets more difficult each year to part from your studies and slumber job, so no rush.

Speaking of jobs, I finally got on the waitlist for host. I had to make some changes, but your wyline here has made a good setup to feed the implant and keep the wyque flowing. My mom said she was proud of me, then told me about her time as a wyline. Ugh, she‘ll always bring that old wyle crystal up. Hopefully when you can visit she doesn’t try to reenact the vision she had during splicing. That always seemed way too personal to me.

Anyway! Let me know something soon! I will give you my expected months of hosting, but nothing is confirmed yet!

Love, Calia
