Freedom has cost me everything. Everyone, including me, craves being free. What does being free even mean? Well to me being free means I don't have responsibilities to another human being. Meaning I can do what I want, when I want, how I want, and with who I want. For the longest time I had thought something different though, I thought that I was free. I had a wife. I had a career. I was working towards being financially free, which to me was the ultimate freedom cause we could do whatever we wanted without worrying about it setting us back. However the most freeing concept I have learned from my divorce is that what I had viewed as freedom is not actually freedom. Like I said above being free means something completely different to me nowadays. Freedom is more of a mentality then a physical reality. Freedom is being able to have control over your own life without the input of other humans. And I had to lose everything I had and knew to learn that hard truth. However it is the most freeing thing I have learned in my life.
