New Beginnings
I am made entirely of flaws,
Stitched together by good intentions.
All my flaws have put my mind in detention.
Each stitch is a single mistake.
Some are so bad I should’ve been burned at the stake.
I sew in a new one and it makes my heart ache.
The blood on my hands could make a Great Lake.
But once you get that itch, you know? That itch where your stitch starts to heal.
The wounds begin to mend, you can feel.
Life is starting to finally feel real.
Yet there is still blood, and it stains.
I never meant to cause all that pain.
But we can wash it away, when the Heavens pour rain.
Replace the stitch. Not a flaw, but a lesson learned.
A new life to be earned.
Born again, with a welcoming return.
