Inside The Arcade Game

I avoid the ghosts. They like to hurt me.

Walk with me. I used to know who I was. Or did I? I’m not certain some days. I’m lost in this cavern. I came here by… I don’t remember. All I know is that after I travel every corner, hallway, corridor—when I think I’ve been everywhere, I find a new set of tunnels similar to the one we are walking through now. Blue cave walls lit only by gentle gas light. New passages like it’s knows I’ve seen them all. God—like it’s alive!

From time to time, I get a small memory back from before here. A wife, kids, or maybe someone else’s wife and kids. I’ve seen dozens. The deeper I go into maze, the more I remember about these lives I must have lived.

I lost the way back. I must’ve known at one point. If I go far enough, I’ll remember how to get us out, but the maze, it keeps growing. Growing. Growing.

Here’s a new path, and here come the ghosts. I hope you can run fast because if they catch you, they hurt you.
