POEM STARTER

"“What did you do?”

Write a poem that incorporates this question three times.

Choose any theme you’d like, as long as you use repetition to create an interesting effect.

I did nothing

“What did you do?”

The line that becomes familiar to the youngest child.

No, I didn’t do anything except be born last.

Please, stop touching me with those filthy hands.

I’m the youngest child.

“What did you do?”

Nothing apparently. I am worthless and taking up space.

My large belly is taking up too much space.

How do you out an elephant in a freezer?

I am a worthless and talentless elephant.

“What did you do?”

I wish I did something.

When you kept saying that you were going to jump

When you showed me the razor you used and scars you left.

Why didn’t I do something?
