Hiding Behind These Walls

It’s like I’m putting a facade on

I’m putting a mask on my face to hide myself from the world

No one needs to know or see me

They don’t know me and they won’t

My life is my pain, only I know it

What is mine deserves to be private

Everything is hidden inside the walls like they’re masks, protecting what’s behind them.

Only very little will they come down along with my guard and dignity

Until I find those who I can trust and lean on when things get heavy

But for now, the mask stays on as I stay hidden behind these walls.
