Falling
I stood on the edge of the bridge as the man secures the stretchy rope to my harness. My legs are shaking violently and I’m starting to regret this decision. It seemed so far down and I felt faint as I stared down. Sweat was trickling down my back and I couldn’t feel my hands or feet. I took a deep shuddering breath.
“ Are you ok ? “ the man securing my harness asked.
“ I looked back at him. “ Y. Yeah.. I think so“
He nodded at me and smiled. “ Are you ready ? “
I gave a small nod.
“ I’ll count you down. “ he said. “ Here you go. 1. 2. 3. “
I hesitate briefly. But then I jump. And I fall until I’m jerked back up. That was amazing.
