The Best Card Catalogue

We bumped into each other or rather our hands bumped into each other. Only real focus on something can take a person so far into their own head they don’t notice a pending collision. That our game of chicken (hands) was happening in the local public library at the card catalogue only added to the farce of our first meeting. The inadvertent fist bump a result of the two of us looking for the same book on Nissan exhaust modifications by Mayazaki from 1982. I mean, what are the chances for such a niche book at 2:21pm on a Tuesday to become a target for one person in the last 30 years let alone two. Some might call that kind of thing fate. Looking back, it was the best day I’d had in years. And really, it’s the unxexpected days that often turn into the most memorable, something innocent enough as going to the library and ending up on a street on the wrong side of the track racing the person who would become my person.
