The Day Long Ago
All in a golden afternoon,
under the skies of cloudless blue
That’s where we stood
You and I
As we watched the time
Pass us by,
I still think about that day
Just you and me, by the bay
But little was I to know
That the man you were
was about to go,
The ripples of a fish swum by
Accented in the sunken sky
Yet one soul was left alone
Where once a love of two had shown
For it was then I began to see
That you were just not right for me
And there I was, on a similar day
Amidst the sunshine on the bay
It was there I became okay
For things were finally going my way
And I forgot you
I learned to be true
All in a golden afternoon,
Under the skies of cloudless blue
