Colonialism
A settlement is made
And all land is claimed
I was here first!
All the man say
A flag in the ground
A stick in the mud
They cheer for their blessings
As any Lord would
Laughing and striding
Feeling so high
Stabbing and slashing
With glee in their eyes
Wounding and maiming
Blood on the skin
Another man noticed
A woman within
Raping and pillage
Is what they all know
Humanity’s lowest
How far can we go?
It doesn’t stop there
My story of sight
For what I have witnessed
Would cause you such fright
When I was a child
No more than thirteen
I witnessed a horror
That should be unseen
I still hear the creaking
They come down the hall
Mother is crying
while father stands tall
The first man walks in
He’s holding a sword
I see father falling
No, mother, good lord!
They cut and they slay
They pray to the sky
Hurry, and leave
For if babies cry
They’ll take them and throw them
In rivers so deep
Mother stopped crying
We put her to sleep
I tell you this now
My child my dear
For I am too weary
And my time is near
Humanity’s favors
And all that has been
We must learn from the past
And hold love within
