Weights

Just because someone carries it well,

Doesn’t mean it isn’t heavy

The burden is heavy, the struggle unseen,

Behind every smile, there is more in between.

Dusty corners, fake displays,

Hiding the truth in subtle ways.

I look to the distance, lost in the night,

Hoping the dawn will bring me light.

The angel comes to take my hand,

Lifting me high to a softer land.

Up we go, the weight subsides,

Drifting beyond where sorrow hides.

Just because someone carries it well

Doesn’t mean it isn’t heavy.

It’s lighter up here, the weight has shifted,

My soul no longer feels constricted.

I’ve risen beyond the chains below,

To a place where kindness flows.

A place more open, a place more true,

A place that loves me just like you.

No more shadows, no more pain,

No more walking in the rain.

Just because someone carries it well

Doesn’t mean it isn’t heavy.

But I am sorry, I must confess,

Leaving you behind leaves me restless.

Though peace surrounds, I still regret,

The love we had, I won’t forget.

Yet sometimes wings must spread and fly,

To find the truth beyond the sky.

So if you see me in your dreams,

Know I am light, at last at peace.
